Maria started with us at the beginning of November 2020. She provided live in care for my wife Linda working alternating two week shifts, although at times there were disruptions in continuity due to covid travel restrictions. When Maria first started Linda was mobile but she then became unable to weight-bear and we moved her downstairs into a hospital bed. Maria was able to easily adapt to these changes and also mastered the use of the Vendlet, a device when attached to the bed enables a single person to change the patient. Maria’s main activities included changing Linda, feeding, toileting, and showering her daily, taking Linda out most days, weather permitted in a wheelchair, getting Linda ready for bed and administering her medication. Maria has worked conscientiously with compassion and good humour. She was vigilant in observing Linda, noticing any changes in her physical or psychological behaviour, highlighting them, making helpful suggestions and implementing any changes needed. I consider that Maria has been an excellent carer in meeting Linda’s needs.
