Description
I am a retired professional with 30 years’ business experience and decided to make the move into a giving career, that of carer. I was born in South Africa (SA) to an Irish Dad & Welsh Mum, the fifth of 6 children. I spent most of my life in SA. I moved over to the UK in 2014 and remained here until 2019 when I returned to SA to finalise some personal matters. My interest in caring comes from my ability to look after people. I am a natural communicator, maybe a little too ‘bubbly’ , I call it enthusiasm. Throughout my career I was the nurturer in the team, someone to talk to and they would listen. I would like to continue to make use of this ability. Spending time with people is what I enjoy & hopefully I will provide the environment for a client to enjoy their later years & live life with dignity and kindness. Unofficial experience as a carer, my Mom had vascular dementia for 9 years, prior to her passing in 2015. I cared for her while she was still able to look after herself before she went into care. I was also a companion carer to a HNWI suffering from mental health issues. My interests are varied and many. Art, theatre, music, dancing, knitting, sewing, walking, animals, the country, gardening, and jigsaw puzzles. I love insects and bees, meadows and trees, a passion for Antiques and love the related TV shows that they have here in the UK. I want to learn tapestry and the piano, I am a novice bridge player & still learning French. I am fluent in English. Being South African I love sport, especially Rugby, Cricket, Golf and Tennis. Like to discuss business & very comfortable at this level. Love crosswords, Sudoku (not very good) & Wordle. I am an organised, creative person who is loyal, passionate, compassionate & committed. As well as being a companion carer I am happy to handle light bookkeeping and administrative work. Officially I have been caring since May & have had two successful placements. One of which wanted me back.

Jacey came to help me after a foot op so it was mostly cooking running up and down stairs driving. Me and walking my dog. She is extremely intelligent, cheerful -and prepared nice meals. I would certainly recommend her.
