Description
I have worked as a professional carer for over 5 years, and offer thoughtful, compassionate, and person-centred care. Prior to retraining as a carer, I worked in a variety of roles including education support and NHS secondary mental health services. I enjoy many hobbies including gardening (I maintain a delightful allotment here in Bristol, where I grow much of my own fresh fruit & veg), cooking, regular weight-lifting sessions and yoga classes, DIY, and various creative and craft activities.
I have a broad range of care experience including offering 1-1 support in clients' own homes (both live-in & live-out), working in nursing homes, residential care homes, and supported living services. I have experience working with clients with spinal injuries, brain injury, dementia, learning disabilities, autism, complex physical & mental health needs, as well as providing end of life / palliative care. I am fully trained in a broad range of care skills and hold current practical training and experience in safe techniques for moving and handling clients (including different kinds of hoists), and the safe administration of medications.
I am able to offer support and assistance with: housekeeping & gardening, shopping, cooking, administration, liaison with medical professionals, medication prompting/administration, all personal hygiene & grooming, dressing/undressing, companionship, looking after pets, eating & drinking assistance, moving & handling, toilet & bathroom assistance, management of incontinence, catheter care, PEG feeding, transportation, and mental health & well-being support.
