Description
My name is Ana Sousa, I'm a 48 years old female, originally from Portugal, single, with no children, living in Cheltenham with my Mum and stepdad. Back in Portugal I have obtained in 2002 a degree as a nursery teacher (childhood educator, as we call it in there) and have worked in education for several years, mostly with fostered children. I have also worked in many other areas while there. I have later started a second degree at the Law University, but have not finished that.
I moved to the UK in August 2013 to work in the care industry as a Domiciliary/Community Carer, which I have done just for around 5 months, having then moved to the live-in carers team into the same care company in December 2013. As I fell in love with this job I've decided I would like to study to be able to learn more and progress in my care career, so in May 2016 I have finished the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (formerly known as NVQ3).
Having left that company in December 2016 I have then started to work as a self-employed live-in carer from January 2017. I have then studied further and achieved Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as NVQ5) in Leadership for Health and Social Care in November 2021.
In the meantime I have also worked for a month as a Field Care Supervisor, and as a Care Coordinator/Scheduler in 3 different companies for around half an year in total.
I have the most varied types of Training, all up-to-date and my main experiences on the field are with service users suffering from Dementia (of all types and stages), non-mobile people (using a hoist to mobilize), palliative care, end of life care and specialist care such as but not limited to: catheter care, stoma care, peg tube feeding and medication administration, stroke and diabetes (including those taking insulin).
