My name is Bukunola Akintimehin but you can call me Bukky, I have over 30 years experience caring and supporting different clients group. I have worked in client own home, in residential setting, in the community and hospital settings. To broaden my knowledge for the care job that I have great passion for, I decide to go back to school and study public health and health policies, I'm in my second year and doing very well. I'm a very patient and honest carer, I'm a very positive person creative and very well organised. I'm confident in my job as a carer because I develop my understanding and knowledge through trainings and short courses, I'm genuine and empathetic and very respectful to my service users and their families.
I enjoy my job as a carer because I like to put a smile on vulnerable people faces, love positivity it gives me great joy and pleasure when I'm able to be of help and support to my service users. I took care of my grandmother for so many years before she died during the Covid at the age of 105 I know the internal joy I feel when she tells me she couldn't ask for a better carer.
My experience in care job started 1993 I worked in different hospital in London as an auxiliary nurse known now as Health care assistance most in geriatric wards(elderly people ward I support them with their personal care, feeding, grooming and dressing and to mobilise around the ward.. I was in that job for 3 years. I later move to helping clients in their own home which is known as domiciliary care with London Borough of Barnet, there I was supporting and caring for service users in the comfort of their home, assisting them with their household chores, shopping, helping them with their laundry and escorting them to the bank and post office, I prepare and implement their care plans and risk assessment and make sure they are comfortable and safe in their house.
My skills are good communication, proactiveness, good timekeeping, professionalism and strong work ethics.
