Description
I am a bubbly, conscientious & committed carer with several years experience providing care in the community to people with a diverse range of disabilities. I had previously in the 80s provided support to both my grannys and also lately my mother in law. I specialise in supporting people in their own home with expertise in supporting & monitoring health care needs. I seek to help my clients grow in independence through empathy and empowerment. I'm a very kind natured person who has a firm but patient manner. I am able to communicate with all kinds of different people from all walks of life & I enjoy and have learnt a lot from the different people that I meet. Though caring could be very challenging, but I feel rewarded when my clients feels happy and contented.
I came from a completely different background. But, in the 80s, I volunteered to support older & vulnerable people in care homes as well as in my local church. That was when i realised that i will rather work with people and put a smile on their faces, than working with computers. I eventually resigned from my job in 2008 to work fully in the field of social care. I have since done a lot of work with clients with mental health issues, older people, clients with learning & physical disabilities. In 2020 February, I supported a client with severe arthritis and panic attacks in his home. By 2021 June, another family took me on to look after their diabetic dad who also had mobility issues. I later joined an agency in 2021, In this challenging position, no two days are the same. I help my clients with every day duties, i engage them in activities to keep them motivated, & also support them with learning & development. I'm motivated and dedicated to supporting my clients through recovery. My skills includes, Communication, Admin, Medication supervision/reminding, Cooking, baking, Assistant with, dressing/undressing, Hoisting, Knitting & Crocheting, Singing ( Gospel), Fitness & Healthy eating.
