Mona Corina (or Corina as we knew her) worked as a full time carer for my now deceased family friend Kathleen Sharkey. Kate lived at 46 Maresfield Gardens in Hampstead North London. Sadly, Kate was very unwell for some years before her death (aged 97) in January 2021. Corina was Kate's principal carer for the last five years of her life. My father Patrick (who died in February aged 99) effectively made all the arrangements for Kate's carers at the end of her life. Both my father and I had enormous respect (and affection) for Corina. She is honest, straightforward and reliable. Although she comes from Rumania, she has been in the UK for more than 10 years - and so she knows the country and the language well. She is also an outstanding cook (and she always prepared very nice lunches for us on our regular visits to see Kate). Although, Kate was seriously ill at the end of her life she had an impressive determination to stay alive as long as possible. Both my father and I believed that, without Corina, Kate would have died at least two (or possibly three) years earlier than she did.

Corina cared for my Mum, who has Alzheimer's disease, as a live-in carer on rotation with another carer for 15 months. She is very experienced and was able to handle Mum at all stages of her illness. She is skillful with handling, personal care, and hygiene. Corina takes initiative and is an excellent problem solver, able to deal with whatever situation arose. She is a person of integrity, totally honest, reliable and trustworthy. Corina is positive, unflappable and has a warm sense of humour which helped us all. She is a good communicator and very responsive. Corina is an excellent and passionate cook, making delicious nutritious meals for Mum, and knowing how to adapt them as Mum's needs changed. She took care of all the shopping, making sure fresh food was always available. Knowing Mum was in Corina's care made an enormous difference to us and we knew she was in safe hands. Friends commented on how well Mum was looked after. A consummate professional, I cannot recommend Corina highly enough. A truly first-class person and carer.
