Description
I have been working continuously as a full time Professional Live-in Carer since 2018. And had a regular client with Elder for the last two years.
I have had a wide range of clients and worked at all levels of care, from basic to complex care.
I am gentle and mild natured and would suit a client of a similar nature. I am happy looking after clients pets, (including horses!) and I enjoy gardening. I have a car, so need parking. But I can use my car for errands and I would be happy in a more rural location. I am originally from Lancashire/Yorkshire.
Since January 2018 I have worked with four different care companies. With Elder I have had the same client for nearly two years, and with another company I had the same client for 18 months and self isolated with her for five months through the pandemic. But I have also had many dozens of shorter term clients from 3 days to 3 months.
Prior to working as a Live-in Carer I have had careers in journalism, as a Vegetarian Chef and Children's Charity Manager. All the work I have done has been focused around personal wellbeing and growth both physical and mental. I am organised, tidy, clean and methodical but calm, relaxed and friendly. I would suit a quieter household.
I am happy to travel all over the UK, especially Scotland, Wales, Devon and Cornwall, which I would like to explore more.
My caring career began providing complex care for clients who are tetraplegic and paraplegic, and then I did a lot of work with older adults with disabilities who want to remain living independently in their own homes. I have also worked with people with learning disabilities and on the autistic spectrum in education and health care. And I have a lot of experience working with people with parkinson's, dementia, alzheimer's and mental health issues.
I am very discreet and good at giving clients space and privacy or facilitating activities like arts and crafts, light exercise, audiobooks, games, jigsaws and getting outside etc.
