Description
I love looking after people and bringing a smile to their face, making them feel that they are supported, their dignity is maintained and they are as independent as possible while being safe and having their needs met.
I am a very experienced carer. Excellent command of English, albeit with a South African accent, despite being back in the UK for over 20 years!
I've been involved in caring in a number of ways for 11 years. During this time I have looked after people from birth to over 100 years old, the oldest being 104, all with a variety of challenges, disabilities, personal quirks and individual requirements. I was a foster carer for children with global development delay, autism, blindness, learning difficulty, those suffering from neglect, abuse and trauma. Then I started live in-care and have experience in advanced dementia, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, stroke and quadriplegia.
I worked in neurorehabilitation at a private hospital and more recently domiciliary care and an upmarket residential home for assisted living.
I am punctual, reliable, honest, caring, patient, calm and respectful. I can cook well, have an excellent knowledge of nutrition, allergy requirements and dietary needs.
I'd love to hear from you to see whether we can work together!

Terry has been of invaluable help to our family while working as a part-time live-in carer for our mother for approximately 6 months. Always punctual, reliable, communicative and calm, Terry has navigated our mother's challenging needs extremely well. Terry's experience with Alzheimer's has been an extremely helpful asset to us all in our family. We are very sorry to lose Terry and will forever be grateful for her help with our mother. We would highly recommend Terry to anyone requiring care and companionship for themselves or a loved one.

Terry was absolutely invaluable. Our very sick, but entirely compos mentis, family member needed very careful management for his clinical / medical and personal care. A very proud man (aged 71) was looked after with great sensitivity, positivity and humour which meant despite not liking being in the physical condition he found himself, Terry’s care was accepted gratefully. The whole family felt very relieved to have Terry with us at this very difficult time. She is certainly highly recommended by us.

Terry is a treasure, and I really hope I can persuade her to come back after every 2 weeks, share with another carer yet to be arranged.
