Description
Hi, I am married with 2 girls and cats and I enjoy running, cycling, swimming, walking and going to the gym. I also enjoy taking part in community projects and voluntary work when possible. I love films and family time and generally enjoy life and all the positive things it brings!
Alongside this, my occupation as a care assistant has been ongoing. 18 years ago I started at Cheltenham General Hospital and then transistioned into the community a couple of years later. It was in the community setting that I really felt comfortable and was able to apply my incredible training into my day to day work. This enabled me to do what I love: helping people in the environment that suited them.
With regards to my job, I have had varied experience over 18 years. I have cared for patients in a clinical setting and in then their own homes. Clinical skills have involved stoma care, catheter bags, controlled drugs, fluids etc. The hospital taught me the importance of documentation which puts safety first for everyone invovled.
Care work has been anything from personal care to assistance with transfers and getting out and about.
Other aspects of my job include shopping, cleaning, cooking, medication etc.
As well as looking after others I have also managed my Dad's care for four and a half years. I believe this has given me a much deeper understanding of the effects on the family as well as the patient. This experience has only enhanced my empathy for others in this situation.
However, all care provided to help with daily living is on an individual basis. Therefore the care plan will put the client first to empower them and promote their independence whilst negotiating with the family a plan that serves the situation well into the long term for continuity of care.

Sadie’s communication was very prompt & helpful . When she visited to set the care up she gave us so much time & it was obvious that she was very experienced & professional . She gave advise , shared her knowledge & was completely on the ball . I had no hesitation in booking her . She has now started & was on time , caring & thorough & communication continues to be good . We hope to increase use of her . Kathy

Having persuaded our parents they really did need care, we invited Sadie to come and visit them to assess their needs. This was a free, introductory meeting. Not only was Sadie hugely professional, she was also down to earth, practical and full of advice. But what was really impressive was the amount of time she spent with both of our parents, individually, to really understand who they are as people. As a result, not only did she uncover care needs but also their unique, individual, aspirations and goals. Sadie's refreshing, holistic approach to care inspired us all and, since that first meeting, she has started regular visits to our parents and is already building a great bond with them.

Sadie is very professional and thorough with her approach to all aspects of her working roles and ensured in-depth risk assessment and background information was gathered first before commencing her role. A good communication strategy is in place to ensure all involved all fully up-to-date on the jobs completed with my mum's consent. Sadie will always discuss situations with my mum first and act on her best interest. We are very happy with her care.

My Mum really enjoys Sadie coming to visit her - she keeps her company a few hours a week. Mum finds her very calming and good company. Personally I think Sadie has a very lovely way about her and I think she is a perfect companion !

Sadie has made such a difference for, not only, our mother over the last couple of months, but for the rest of the family too. Altzheimers isn't any easy thing for anyone to deal with, either directly or indirectly, and just being able to rely on a caring professional to guide us through the good and the bad times has been useful for all concerned. Currently, Sadie is only covering 2 x 1 hour sessions per week, due to popularity, but we hope to extend this over time.
