I am a caring mother of three who has always enjoyed supporting the elderly in different capacities. I would describe myself as quiet/reserved, trustworthy, patient and kind. I am often described by people I have looked after as a calming influence. Having worked in live-in care, residential homes, complex care and enablement I have a range of experience working with both men and women. My whole life has been about caring for others - it isn't something I have had to learn how to do but a natural part of my personality. People tend to look to me to help them. They like to talk to me and I have often been told by friends (and my children) that when they are unhappy about something they find talking to me always comforts them. I am a great listener and most older people love to talk about their past so I will bring this skill to my caring role. Rather than talk all the time I will listen to them. I believe in helping people to help themselves so I will always do my best to support a person without feeling I need to take away their dignity by doing everything for them. Many older people are not treated in the best way and I believe I can make a small difference by becoming a carer and providing real personal care that comes from the heart. My passions include music, being in nature (although I am still not a fan of walking in the rain and snow) and watching musicals. Despite loving modern technology I still love reading books and writing in a journal/notebook - I write very short stories. Love to swim and am trying to get into a regular exercise pattern. I have become really interested in fitness and nutrition which has given me a real insight into the benefits of looking after my wellbeing. While I don't label myself a vegan I do eat very little animal products now and most of my eating involves pluses, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Of course, I am happy to cook whatever foods necessary for my clients. If you have any additional questions feel free to ask.

I am an enthusiastic positive person who likes to see the good in situations and people. I enjoy challenges and adventure. Caring for people in their own environment is such a privilege, particularly end of life care. I believe it is important for people to be treated as individuals, to be respected and feel that they are being heard and that their needs are being met in a kind, positive and professional way. I initially started care work in 2004, and in that time worked with a variety of clients. A large proportion of my care career has involved palliative care. I have also worked with clients with dementia, Parkinsons, MS, clients who have had strokes, clients with catheters, stoma bags, and various types of hoisting and different levels of moving and handling. In 2015 I joined the Army Reserves as a Combat Medic Technician. the training that I have done with them has provided a number of useful transferable skills and medical knowledge. I look forward to the opportunity to work with my new clients and assisting them with their needs.

I am an enthusiastic and compassionate person who understands my clients very well. I enjoy caring for the vulnerable adults and elderly because I resonate that as a person ages and their independence and mental capacities reduce, it’s easy to fall into the trap of being patronised. Even if an elderly person is becoming frail and/or senile, it’s important I always remember that they are a person with a lot of experience, and a person who was once able to stand on their own two feet. I am a great carer who will be able to connect with your loved one as a person, not just as a client who needs care. I am also a reliable carer who will ensure that my clients eats, drinks takes medication and makes appointments on time. I do a holistic approach on personal care. I am also empathetic to my clients because I understand that ageing can be a confusing and difficult process for some older people, as tasks that they used to find simple become a challenge that need to be overcome. I am carer that will be able to connect with my clients in order to help them through it, and I am a great carer who will understand the emotions as they might struggle and face new realities.

I am a very kind hearted and loving person and can understand the sufferings of an ailing person. I will make every effort to ensure that my client would feel comfortable and recover at a fast pace. I love listening to the stories of the elderly people because these memories are the only things they take pleasure from and sharing of these reminiscences can relieve from their ailments, though for a short period. Talking about my training, I have done Mandatory training in care where I learnt about moving and handling, hygiene and urgent care like CPR. I have studied a lot about the traits and management of dementia. Above all, I am always compassionate about working with elderly people and give them some moments of relief from their affliction.
