Over the last 15 years I have gained numerous experiences over time working within the healthcare profession. I became a care assistant in a residential home which was an extremely liberating experience for me as I gained insight on caring for older people with a range of illnesses including those with Alzheimers, Stroke survivors etc. I often find the best part of the job is being able to listen and talk to my patients about they’re life and what led them to where they are today and i’m able to do this with compassion in order to create a nurturing relationship. I then became a support worker after working as a care assistant for over a decade. I have worked with patients with severe depression, drug addiction and alcoholism who often suffered with illness such as asthma and diabetes. I feel that this role really helped strengthen my resilience and interpersonal skills as I listened effectively in order to build empathy.. My most recent role has been working as childminder, after having two kids of my own, I feel it is important to cater to the needs of the next generation. By teaching them to effectively communicate and engage with me as well as younger people. Safeguard and the welfare of all my clients is always placed of high priority for me and I am patient, reliable and organised.

My name is Evette and I have been a personal carer for two ladies with complex needs and learning disabilities who live in their own home for the last 8 years. I am also a private carer for the elderly. All my elderly clients suffer/suffered with Dementia so I have experience in that field. Before becoming a carer I worked in a preschool for 8 years and I’m a mum of two. Both my children are now over 18 . I have a Level 2 in Health and Social care and level 2 in childcare, learning and development. I have also done lots of training courses in different areas and I’m PEG trained. I am kind, honest, independent, flexible, good at communicating and reliable. I love being a carer and helping others, I’ve always had a good relationship with my clients and their family members. I work well independently and part of a team. In my spare time I like spending time with my family and friends and partner, going to the coast, reading, keeping fit, going to the theatre and going out for a meal. I am allergic to cats so I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to work where there are cats.

Not sure what you need?

I am an adaptable, diligent, passionate, and self-motivated individual with experience in executing personal support plans which focus on the individual’s welfare, needs, wants, and interests. I have the ability to manage a challenging caseload, while staying focused on giving a high standard of care to every client/service user. I am comfortable working in one-on -one-situations with people of different levels of disability and ages. I became a Carer/Support Worker for two specific reasons. The first reason is, having had over 25years of experience caring for my aunt whom I grew up knowing as my mum, I enjoyed the challenge that the role presents, and I also very much enjoyed the responsibility of providing the right level of care to the person I was looking after. These years of experience has made me understand that with empathy, love and support anyone can lead a satisfactory life. The second reason is, the flexibility of the working hours which fits perfectly around my personal life. I currently seeks a role where I can continue to help people reach their potential and lead fulfilled lives.

In my curiosity about rendering health services, my eyes opened to the world of nutrition; an aspect of health care which entails assisting patients with developing better food choices to improve their health condition. This background prompted my decision to study Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Nigeria to further my quest in studying for a Masters in Public Health Nutrition .I have excellent communication and data management skill as well as good verbal and written skills, which I utilized on daily basis. I have developed skill in rendering client centered care. I am comfortable working on my own and able to work effectively as part of a team as this is essential in delivering high quality care. I am committed, non-judgmental, resilient, very well organized , able to adapt to situations and work under pressure. Understanding the importance of safe environment, I know that time is of the essence in ensuring that a child's environment is safe from harm, abuse and neglect. I believe that every child matters and have a right to being given the chance to become his/her best in life. I know that I possess all the necessary knowledge, skills and qualities needed for this role. My zeal, passion and enthusiasm to help in caring for people gave me the drive to help to care for patients in care homes where I presently work as a healthcare assistant by giving first hand care to patients such as understanding and recording a patient's temperature, breathing, pulse and weight supporting patients to eat and serving their meals, helping to toilet ,bath and dress , spending time talking to patients, answering their questions as far as possible and making sure they are comfortable. Helping patients to get out of bed and move around supporting patients to change position in bed. I am a fully qualified nurse who since returning to work after bringing up my two daughters has spent the last five years as a highly skilled and compassionate qualified carer. As well as attending to all care and health-related needs, I believe very strongly in the companionship aspect and helping people feel secure, confident and supported in their everyday lives. I work with people with wide-ranging needs, who in striving to maintain their independence may find everyday tasks a challenge both within and outside their own home. As well as being expert in all forms of personal care, I assist with many aspects of independent living, for example light housework, personal administrative tasks, shopping, accompanied outings, arranging and attending appointments and running errands. Equally importantly, I am also someone who is there to talk to – I take great pride in the interaction I have with people, believing this to be particularly valuable in enhancing their quality of life. I have extensive experience in palliative care, as well as helping those affected by strokes, dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. I always liaise closely with family members and allied health professionals, initially in preparing an appropriate care plan and then in maintaining close communication at all times. Being dedicated, reliable and trustworthy with excellent organisational skills, my service is always of a high quality and very efficient. I work mainly in the Bromley and Chislehurst areas, but can go further afield. If you think I may be able to help, please do get in touch as I would be delighted to hear from you.

Being a carer is something that I am very much passionate about. I have a great love and ability to care for people. I’m a very bubbly and mature person and have been told that I am good at handling my self as well as others in difficult and even emotional situations. I have worked as a self-employed carer for a year, prior to that I worked with an agency. I have historically focused on live-in care for a range of elderly clients. Prior to this, I worked in a care home, where I managed a lot of challenging behaviour, and first discovered honed my ability to respond and manage that. I’m also a student, so along with care, I manage my studies as well, something that I enjoy. I enjoy cooking, arts and horse-riding, amongst many other hobbies. As a carer, I hope to bring a different approach to my elderly clients by showing them the happiness of life, from a young person's perspective. I hope that I can bring something new to you or your loved one's life, please get in touch.

I am a Londoner living in Greenwich and have been a carer for the past 15 years. I am a professional; compassionate, caring, a good listener, respectful, trustworthy and I am very friendly. I recently completed a Level 5 Foundation degree in Health & Social Care at the University of Greenwich, so I am up to date with the latest techniques and thinking in health and social care. I currently support both young and elderly clients in their own homes, helping them with mental and physical health needs with a focus on maintaining and improving their independence. In the recent past, I have delivered one to one care in acute settings, such as on hospital wards, working alongside doctors, nurses, midwives and occupational therapists. I have training in End of Life Care and work as a volunteer in Hospice Care, as well as visiting people battling with an incurable disease in their own homes. I help with their day to day activities, experience that helps me a great deal when with working with disabled and elderly people, maintaining their health an independence. One of the most rewarding things I have done recently is creating a story picture with an elderly client suffering from dementia. It helped them to remember their life, allowing them to take pride and dignity from their achievements. I enjoy meeting new people, cooking, going for walks, traveling, going to the movies and reading. If you like the sound of me, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
