As I do not drive I am looking for clients through out the day to have longer hours of 5/10 hours shifts or within travelling distance of Accrington. I can also do sleeping nights and I am flexible on what nights I work to fit in with the clients needs. I can also do part time live in positions ideally 3/days in row with 30 miles of Accrington, when doing live in I prefer to have my 2 hours break each day. I am a passionate, caring, flexible, patient, non-judgmental, and enthusiastic lady. I am highly motivated, dedicated, and confident with exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills. I am willing to work according to the schedule, including night shifts and live-in care. I am very willing to give my best to my clients. I love making a difference in other people’s lives. Caring for other people makes me feel valued. I get great job satisfaction from my job, and I love hearing good feedback from my reviewer. I like the responsibility of looking out for my clients and taking notes if anything seems amiss. My role is now a mixture of caring, client reviews and doing spot checks and I enjoy the variety. I treat my clients as though they are my own parents. Old age is going to come to us all so I care for people as I would like to be treated myself. I love ensuring that my clients look smart. I always wanted to be a nurse and feel that I am eventually working in my dream job. I developed extensive skills working with customers even when they were distressed. Effective communication. Motivation and enthusiasm. Initiative. Teamwork. Leadership skills. Problem-solving. Flexibility. Sensitivity and understanding. A desire to help people. Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. The ability to accept criticism and work well under pressure. And to be thorough and pay attention to detail.

In 1994 after the deaths of both ny aunt and uncle I took on the role of carer for my 2 cousins who both had learning disabilities. One was in a residential home but I had contact with her on a daily basis and her sister lived with me. Both were visually impaired and needed care with all their every day needs. I arranged outings to the cinema, restaurants, cafes, theatre and included them in almost every thing I did. We went on holidays and had many memorable occasions. I became very good at ensuring that ever thing was accessible and wheel chair friendly. They understood what I said but they both had their own way of communicating and I was able to understand them both and fulfill their needs. I guided and supported them as much as possible to maintain their independence and so that they had a good life filled with love and care. I am not saying it was always easy but with understanding we overcame the difficulties. One cousin passed away in 2010 and sadly in 2021 her sister also passed away. Whilst caring for them I worked part time and my roles were predominantly in the school system and involved being a support assistant, an exams officer and more recently house keeper in a large academy. I like to think of myself as being time efficient, a good listener, able to follow instructions, good understanding of English both written and verbal. I have done voluntary work in numerous organisations over the years including 10 years with Bradford Nightspot, on the panel discussing Hate crimes and visiting people held in police cells to see that they were being treated fairly, all of which I have enjoyed doing and I have been an active member in the community. My interests include reading, crosswords, scrabble, cinema, travel, visiting places, swimming and going to the gym. I have had experience of both live-in care and hourly care. I do not smoke or drink. I have no driving convictions and went to Thomas Danby college in Leeds to improve my culinary skills.

Above all, my motivation for being a home carer stems from a genuine desire to help people lead independent lives. I consider it a privilege to make a positive impact on the lives of those I care for, and my caring, friendly, and helpful nature allows me to build meaningful connections with my clients.
