Poole Museum is on the Old Town quayside in a restored medieval wool warehouse, telling the story of the harbour, its people and its famous pottery, with a 2,000 year old log boat on display. Scaplen's Court, a medieval house and garden, is part of the museum.

The museum has a new lift with extra turning space, two accessible toilets on the ground floor and another on Level 3, and it is a short walk from the quay.

Upton Country Park surrounds the Georgian Upton House on the shore of Holes Bay, with formal gardens, a walled garden, woodland and shoreline paths. There are tea rooms and a gallery beside the walled garden.

The Welcome Centre and Tea Rooms are step-free, there are accessible toilets at both, the walled garden has hard paths around its edge, and a Tramper all-terrain scooter can be booked.

Lighthouse is Poole's arts centre, with a concert hall that is home to the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, a theatre, cinema and gallery. It also has a café in the foyer.

Compton Acres is a set of themed gardens on the slopes above Poole Harbour, including an Italian garden, a Japanese garden, a wooded valley and views over the harbour. There is a café, plant centre and shops on site.

There is a free car park with accessible parking bays, and the Italian garden near the entrance is a good place to start before deciding how far to go down the sloping valley paths.

Poole Park is a Victorian park of 110 acres beside Poole Harbour, with a large saltwater lagoon, a freshwater lake, gardens, a miniature railway and two cafés. It is within walking distance of the town centre.

There are two cafés in the park and paths around the lakes, so the carer can plan a short loop with a stop for tea, or a ride on the miniature railway.

Sandbanks Beach

Sandbanks is a long Blue Flag sandy beach on the spit at the mouth of Poole Harbour, with a promenade and views to the Purbeck hills and Old Harry Rocks. The chain ferry to Studland leaves from the tip.

The beach is reached by a ramp, access matting is laid on the sand from May to September, and a beach wheelchair can be borrowed from the beach office in season.

Branksome Chine is a sandy beach at the foot of a wooded chine, with a long promenade running east towards Bournemouth. It also has wheelchair accessible barbecue hotplates.

The beach is reached by a ramp and a beach wheelchair can be borrowed from the beach office between May and September, and the promenade gives a walk that can be cut short at any point.
