Identifying and managing the risks in your parent’ home keeps you and them safe. Doing so will reduce the number of falls and other accidents, which means your mother and/or father can live in their home, unaided, for longer.
This will save you a lot of money, a lot of time and a lot of heart-ache, so we strongly recommend you give it a go.
Below is a link to a blank, downloadable PDF of the Risk Assessment for Care. In it, we have both the form and guidance on what you should be looking out for as you go, so it is worth giving it a read.
Identifying the risks is not enough, putting in place mitigations is the key outcome. Look to remove the risk altogether or put in steps to minimise it.
You may like to read our guidance around how to make the home safe and accessible, for ideas on what you can do: https://primecarers.co.uk/home-modifications/
I hope that you find this useful, please do get in touch if you feel anything has been missed out.
