Warwick Castle is a medieval castle above the River Avon, with state rooms, towers, a great hall, landscaped grounds by Capability Brown and live shows including a giant trebuchet. It stands on the edge of Warwick's historic town centre.

Blue Badge spaces are close to the entrance in both car parks, a few wheelchairs can be borrowed on the day, two mobility scooters can be booked, and a carer ticket is free.

Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Garden

Kenilworth Castle is a vast red sandstone ruin, once a royal palace where Robert Dudley entertained Elizabeth I, with a recreated Elizabethan garden and an exhibition in Leicester's Gatehouse. It is cared for by English Heritage and has a tearoom in the Tudor stables.

The carer can plan around the garden, the gatehouse exhibition and the tearoom, which sit close together, rather than trying to cover the whole ruin.

Royal Shakespeare Theatre

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre on the riverside in Stratford-upon-Avon is home to the Royal Shakespeare Company, with matinee performances, a rooftop restaurant and cafés looking over the Avon. The riverside gardens and Holy Trinity Church, Shakespeare's burial place, are a short walk away.

The RSC has wheelchair seats for all shows and lift access to all levels, and its cafés and rooftop restaurant are accessible, so a matinee with lunch is an easy outing.

Shakespeare's Birthplace is the half-timbered house on Henley Street where William Shakespeare was born and grew up, with an exhibition and a garden. It is run by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in the centre of Stratford.

The British Motor Museum at Gaydon holds the world's largest collection of historic British cars, from early Austins and Rovers to classic Land Rovers and Jaguars. It has a café and a collections centre in a second building.

Kingsbury Water Park has 15 lakes spread across 600 acres of country park in north Warwickshire, with surfaced paths, bird hides and plenty of wildlife. It is run by Warwickshire County Council.

Ryton Pools is a 100 acre country park of lakes and meadows next to the ancient Ryton Wood, with benches throughout and a café in the main courtyard. A miniature railway runs on summer Sunday afternoons.
