Tredegar House is a 17th century red-brick mansion, for centuries home of the Morgan family, run by the National Trust on the western edge of Newport. Visitors can see the grand state rooms and the servants' quarters, formal gardens and a lake in the surrounding park.

Newport Wetlands is an RSPB nature reserve of reedbeds and lagoons on the Severn Estuary, with a visitor centre, café and paths out to the East Usk lighthouse. Bearded tits, waders and wildfowl can be seen through the year.

Caerleon Roman Fortress Baths

The Roman Fortress Baths at Caerleon are the remains of the bath house of the legionary fortress of Isca, under a cover building with walkways, projections and displays. Visitors can see the open-air swimming pool, changing rooms and heated rooms used by soldiers nearly 2,000 years ago.

The car park is flat with level access to the entrance and has accessible bays, and a disabled person and their companion go in free, though there are no toilets inside the monument.

National Roman Legion Museum

The National Roman Legion Museum in Caerleon tells the story of the Roman legionaries who were based at the fortress of Isca, with armour, weapons, jewellery and tombstones found in the area. It is part of Amgueddfa Cymru, Museum Wales, and entry is free.

Caerleon Roman Amphitheatre

The amphitheatre at Caerleon was built around AD 90 to entertain the legionaries and is the most complete Roman amphitheatre in Britain, with grassy banks where the seating once stood. Next to it are the foundations of Roman barrack blocks.

It is free and open to wander, and public toilets with accessible cubicles are near the amphitheatre at the bottom of the Broadway car park.

Fourteen Locks Canal Centre

Fourteen Locks is a flight of locks on the Crumlin arm of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal at Rogerstone, climbing 160 feet in half a mile. The canal centre, run by a canal trust, has displays on the history of the flight and a tea room.

The centre has toilets and a tea room by the car park, and a carer can plan a short walk up to the first few locks and back.

Belle Vue Park is a Victorian park on a hillside near the centre of Newport, with terraced gardens, a bandstand, glass conservatories, a pavilion tea room and views over the city. It is Grade II listed and free to visit.

Newport Cathedral, also called St Woolos, stands on Stow Hill above the city centre and has Norman and medieval work, including a fine Norman arch. It has been a cathedral since 1949 and is open for visitors outside service times.
