“My week in Wigan can look quite different from one day to the next: a few hours here, a full night there, sometimes staying as live-in support for longer stretches. Over 22 years I have come to particularly value the steady, patient kind of care, the sort where you keep showing up until trust builds and someone feels genuinely at ease with you.”
He developed a close affinity with Terence, spending time talking with him before he retired to bed and looking after his needs during the night. He even accompanied Terence to hospital one night when an ambulance had to be called because Terence was experiencing sever chest pains, staying with him until his shift finished.
