As a companionship carer you’ll spend time with people: making tea, listening, joining a walk to the shops or the park, encouraging hobbies and being a calm, dependable presence. Many of our clients want someone who will stay for a couple of hours and offer friendly conversation and practical reassurance — not complex clinical care. You’ll be asked to support mobility when needed, assist with light household tasks and keep someone engaged and safe in their own home.

This work suits experienced carers who prefer one-to-one time over high-turnover shifts — especially those based in Jarrow, or who can cover nearby areas such as Willington Quay, Howdon, Wallsend, North Shields, South Shields and Tynemouth. You set your own availability, choose your clients and decide your service area. Most carers set rates within £18.80–£23.50 per hour depending on the support they offer and the hours agreed.
