Work supporting people living with dementia in their own homes in Pontefract and the surrounding area. These are ongoing self‑employed opportunities across Pontefract and nearby towns including Featherstone, Castleford, Knottingley, Normanton, Hemsworth and South Elmsall. You choose the clients you want to work with, the hours you take and the service area you cover. Carers on PrimeCarers set their own rates and can expect to work in the typical range of £18.50–£20 per hour depending on the support required and whether visits are hourly or live‑in. What the role often looks like: supporting established routines, offering calm company, prompting medication and appointments, assisting with personal care when needed and gently encouraging independence. You’ll also work with families to share observations and help adapt routines as needs change. Experience in dementia care helps you recognise triggers, use distraction or reassurance techniques, and build trust over time.
