Weekend Carer Jobs in Rotherham

We’re looking for experienced carers in Rotherham to provide short-term respite and weekend cover for families who need a break. Work can be anything from a few hours’ evening sit-ins to a couple of days of live-in support — all focused on giving family carers the breathing space they need.

Right now, 16 families are currently looking for care in the wider area.

Respite work in and around Rotherham and the wider South Yorkshire area often includes companionship, personal care, medication prompting, and support with meals and routines. Shifts vary: some families need regular weekend cover, others occasional short-notice help. You’ll meet families in their homes and agree the care needed before accepting each booking.

This role suits experienced carers who want flexibility and control. Many of our members move away from traditional agency routines to choose clients and hours that fit their life. As a self-employed carer on PrimeCarers you set your own rates and decide your service area. Typical pay sits around £18.80–£20 per hour depending on the care required; you can also set different rates for hourly and live-in work such as £18.80–£20 per hour and £145–£160 per day.

PrimeCarers finds clients, handles contracts, invoicing and payments, and provides insurance while you’re working. You’ll still be self-employed — choosing which jobs to accept and when to work — while we take care of the admin so you can focus on care.

• At least one year of professional care experience
• An Enhanced DBS check (we can help arrange this)
• The right to work in the UK
• Verifiable references
