The best home carers in East Ayrshire

By what their clients said first, then by their record. We start from every carer who offers visits and is based within about an hour of East Ayrshire, and keep those with a studio portrait and a profile that says enough about them to be useful. They are ordered by their client rating and how many reviews they have, then by whether a client wrote a review we can quote, then by their record with PrimeCarers, their years of experience and the care they have given through us. None of the carers profiled here has a client review yet, which usually means they are newer to PrimeCarers rather than less able.

Yes. Before a carer appears on PrimeCarers they have passed an enhanced DBS check, an identity check and a right-to-work check, and recorded an online interview. That DBS must have been issued within the last 2 years, and it has to be renewed every 2 years. Their skills, qualifications and training are for you to check with them. How we check carers sets out each step.

Yes, and it is worth doing. Message the carers you like through PrimeCarers with the visits you need and anything that has been difficult, then arrange a video call or a visit. Talking to a carer is free and nothing is booked until you say so. Most families speak to two or three carers before choosing.

The carers profiled on this page charge £18.50 to £22 an hour, with our fee included. Across East Ayrshire carers charge £19 to £20 an hour, typically £19. Agencies usually charge £28 to £35 an hour for a visit. The cost of home care in East Ayrshire works through what a week of visits comes to.

8 of the 10 carers on this page list dementia on their profile. A tick on a profile is the carer's own description, so ask each one about the people with dementia they have cared for and what they found hardest. Dementia care at home covers what good support looks like at each stage.

Yes. Between them the carers on this page speak French, Shona and South Ndebele as well as English, and the search can filter by language. For someone whose first language has come back to them with age or dementia, a carer who shares it can make visits much easier.

Then you choose another, and the same search shows who else is available. For visits, notice under the contract is 48 hours, and PrimeCarers makes no charge to stop or change carer. It helps to agree at the start that the first couple of weeks are a trial for both of you. Our team can help you find someone else in the meantime.

Some can, and their profile says so. Of the carers profiled here, 6 also offer overnight care and 2 offer live-in care. Live-in carers travel much further for a placement than visiting carers do, so the best live-in carers in East Ayrshire is a separate page, drawn from a wider area.
