My week is a mix of hourly visits and overnight stays across London, and what I love most is the time spent simply being good company, a shared meal, a proper chat, a walk if someone fancies the fresh air. Over 16 years I have worked in sheltered housing, care homes and as a live-in carer, with people of all ages from children to the elderly, and that variety has taught me to meet each person where they are rather than follow a fixed routine. Day to day I help with washing, dressing and meals, keep on top of medication reminders, and support with mobility, toileting or catheter care where needed. I have experience with dementia, Parkinson's, stroke, heart disease and end of life care, among other conditions, but I try never to let the care get in the way of the person, so there is always room for conversation, music, or just sitting together over a cup of tea. I speak English and Afrikaans, and I keep an enhanced DBS check current so families can feel settled from the start. Away from work I enjoy cooking, photography and pottering with DIY, and I bring that same steady interest into my visits. I am originally from South Africa. I have varying experience and have had varying experiences. I provided community nursing support in South Africa to phyciatric nurses and midwives in the community. This would be first aid out in the field, counseling to victims of domestic abuse, providing resource information as well as supporting aids patients, with daily care, this palliative care would be daily washing, eating, companionship. I also worked closely with social services to provide care to abandoned babies and children, it has always been my understaning that people are unique and wonderful. We all fundamentally need and deserve the BEST possible care, respect and support to live our best and chosen life. I consider it a privledge to be "allowed" to help someone in various ways through their day. I have delivered suport in many various ways, from domicillian to live in care, for a variety of diagnoses. From daily pad changes to showers or baths, meal preparations and shopping support. Ever case is individual and personalised according to each person's needs. I also follow care plans as required. I have worked for 20 + years delivering personal care, support and companionship, I have worked in hospitals , personal homes, care homes and supporting people in the community. I am happy to provide hoisting and handling as a second carer , or to be discussed should moving and handling not involve hoisting, please let me know your needs and I am happy to help if possible. I love painting, gardening and quiet craft projects, and this creativity often becomes part of my care. I once helped an anxious lady with poor sight make small papermache bowls and beaded decorations for her family, and the calm of it did her more good than any conversation could. I'm based in Crawley and offer live-in care, drawing on 27 years of experience and speaking Afrikaans, English and Dutch. I'm confident supporting people with dementia, stroke, heart disease, diabetes and respiratory illness, as well as conditions that affect mobility, such as arthritis, osteoporosis and multiple sclerosis. My personal care skills cover bathing, dressing, hoist use, catheter care and medication reminders, alongside cooking, cleaning and general household tasks. I've also stayed with clients through their final days, keeping them clean, comfortable and never alone.
