Most of my week is spent visiting clients in and around Northolt for hourly care, and the moments I value most are the quiet ones with people living with dementia, sitting beside them, listening, and finding whatever helps them feel settled again. I once spent an evening watering plants with a gentleman who was anxious about a garden he had promised his late wife he would tend, and just being outside with him brought his confidence back. Another time, humming a favourite song alongside an anxious lady changed her whole mood within minutes. Six years of this work has taught me that patience and gentle presence matter more than rushing anyone through a routine. Day to day, I help with the practical things too, washing and dressing, medication reminders, moving and handling, catheter care, cooking and light housework, alongside companionship. I support people with a wide range of conditions, from Parkinson's and stroke to arthritis, respiratory illness and end of life care, and I speak Akan, Twi, Fante and Ga as well as English, which sometimes makes a real difference to clients who feel more at home in those languages. I listen closely to people's stories, whether about their old jobs or their gardens, because that is often where the trust starts. If you are looking for a calm, steady presence for yourself or a family member, I would be glad to have a chat whenever it suits you.
