Checks cover identity, right to work, an interview and an accepted criminal-record check: Enhanced DBS, DBS Update Service, Scottish PVG or Access NI. The acceptance window for a standalone Enhanced DBS certificate is 18 months. Update Service rechecks apply where that route is used. Check the documents and discuss skills, training and suitability for your particular care needs before booking. We do not check qualifications, training or references, so ask the carer about those directly.

Carers set their own rates, which vary by location, experience and care needs. Profile rates include our platform commission and the VAT on that commission. Agree the care, any extra services and expenses before booking. The standard contract charges bank holidays at 1.5 times the normal rate and Christmas Day at twice the normal rate. Compare like-for-like quotes for the same care and cover.

Yes. We always recommend speaking with a carer first, by message, phone or video, and arranging an introductory meeting so both sides are comfortable. There’s no obligation to proceed until you’ve found someone who feels right for your family.

For visits booked through PrimeCarers, we arrange cover where the carer does not have their own. Cover depends on the policy terms, eligibility and exclusions; check that it covers the work you agree. Our team provides platform and administrative support and can help you look for alternatives. You agree the care with a self-employed carer and use PrimeCarers for contract, booking and payment tools. Keep bookings accurate and pay through the platform. The standard notice is 48 hours for hourly care and for live-in care before 168 hours have been worked. After 168 hours, live-in care requires 7 days. Different notice terms must be agreed in writing under the contract. Booked visits you cancel are payable under the contract, except for unplanned hospitalisation, illness or another reason agreed with your carer. Your carer may waive some or all of the charge.
