Iam a multi-skilled individual with extensive knowledge in care. I have worked in different care settings which includes hospitals and in the community during my nursing placements. I have excellent communication, organizational and planning skills gained from previous care roles at senior level. I have been a Team leader at different care settings where l manned dementia units, mental health and learning difficulties. I fit well in a team and can also work in my own initiative. As a Team leader, l was able to make divisions that eventually transformed lives positively. I pride myself with flexible approach as well as prioritizing my duties. I am adaptable and whilst maintaining professional boundaries. Iam a patient passionate individual and a good listener whilst ensuring professional conduct. This experience was gained during my employment at the secure unit hospital as well as dementia units. I encountered challenges that as a result strengthened my knowledge in complex matters. I am good in record keeping to ensure continuity and follow-up. I have worked with men and women patients and treated them with dignity and respect. I respect different values and cultures. l have dealt with people from different backgrounds which facilitated impartial approach and keen eyes to details without judging them. I have experience in dealing with complex care needs whilst maintaining person centered care. I liaised with MDTs and was in constant touch with families. I am aware of confidentiality as it is my duty of care to ensure patients are safe at all levels. Music and dancing keep me going. So do card games and a good puzzle when I want to slow down. I bring that same energy into my work, based in Southampton, where I offer hourly, live-in and overnight care. Fourteen years in care have taught me that company matters as much as any task. I like to sit and talk, share a meal, or get out for a walk together. I've supported people with dementia, Parkinson's, stroke, learning disabilities and physical disabilities, among many others, and I always try to bring conversation and warmth alongside the practical help, whether that's bathing, dressing, medication reminders or moving and handling. I also speak Arabic, Chichewa, Southern Sotho, Tswana and Zulu, which sometimes makes a real difference for clients. Day to day, I help with the things that make life comfortable and dignified: washing and dressing, moving and handling, medication reminders, wound dressing and catheter care, alongside cooking, laundry and the general running of a home. I am equally happy settling into quiet companionship, whether that means a card game, some music, or simply chatting over a cup of tea. My aim is always to fit around the person I am caring for, respecting their routines and their independence.
