Checked means we check identity and right to work and require an enhanced DBS certificate before a carer can use the platform, and carers record an online interview about their experience and approach to care. We do not check qualifications, training or references. You choose your carer, and remain responsible for checking their skills, training and documents suit your needs. See what we check, and what you check.

“Lottie showed incredible patience and empathy, adapting her routine to fit in with Mum's moods. Most importantly, Lottie's cheerful manner helped Mum to get some enjoyment out of life.”

We know Charlotte as "Lottie" and so I will refer to her by that name. Lottie looked after my mother in a live-in arrangement of between 2 and 6 weeks per stay during 2019 to 2021 in Mum's home in Sussex. My mother had Alzheimer's and needed 24 hour care until her condition deteriorated to the point where she had…

“She got straight down on my dad's lounge floor at my dad's level and spoke to him with a tone that was reassuring but not at all patronizing”

Cath is friendly, kind, empathic and highly professional. From day one, I felt that I could trust her with caring for my dad and also trust her with being in my dad's house when we'd go for appointments (when she'd clean and make dad's meals etc.) When Cath first started with us, my dad and I were both quite…

“Mabel has a very quiet and gentle approach to caring and is very competent and reliable.”

Mabel was a regular live-in carer for my mother during the last year of her life. I live in Yorkshire and Mabel was looking after my mother in Hampshire, 300 miles away. I was able to visit my mother only every few weeks but I had absolutely no concerns about the care she received. Mabel has a very quiet and…

The Checks

How Do We Check
Private Carers?

ID and right to work

We check identity online with Yoti, a digital identity service, and right to work in the UK with a Home Office share code or passport.

Enhanced DBS Certificate

We ask carers on the platform to hold an accepted criminal-record check (Enhanced DBS issued within the last 2 years, DBS Update Service, Scottish PVG or Access NI), with renewal or rechecks depending on the accepted route.

Online Interview

Every carer records an online interview, in their own time, so we can understand their experience, communication style and approach to care. This is not a clinical assessment or a guarantee of suitability. Check a carer’s skills, experience and training with them before booking.

PrimeCarers is an introductory platform and does not provide, manage, supervise or clinically assess care.

Clients remain responsible for checking carer documentation, interviewing carers, checking suitability for their specific needs, and agreeing the scope of care directly with the carer.
