Part of our mission at PrimeCarers, is to advocate for fair treatment and good pay for carers in the UK. This is our hub for that work.

Our beliefs:

Carers are fundamental to the well-being of many in our society, particularly the elderly, the disabled, and those recovering from illnesses. Their dedication and hard work often go unrecognised despite the crucial role they play. At PrimeCarers, we believe that carers deserve recognition, fair compensation, and robust support to ensure they can provide the best care possible while also maintaining their own well-being.

  • Firstly, fair compensation is essential. Carers should be paid wages that not only reflect their invaluable contributions but also keep pace with the cost of living. This means regular adjustments to ensure salaries are competitive and fair, reflecting both inflation and the increasing complexity of their responsibilities. They should also have access to benefits that reflect their needs, including comprehensive healthcare, mental health support, and provisions for retirement.
  • Secondly, professional recognition and development are crucial. Carers should have access to continuous training and development opportunities to enhance their skills and advance their careers. This includes formal recognition of their qualifications and clear paths for progression within the healthcare sector, ensuring they feel valued and have the opportunity to grow professionally.
  • Finally, supportive working conditions are vital. Carers often work in challenging environments that can take a toll on their physical and emotional health. They deserve a supportive work environment where their health and safety are prioritised. This includes reasonable work hours, adequate breaks, and the equipment and assistance needed to perform their duties effectively and safely.

Carers deserve to be compensated fairly, recognised professionally, and supported adequately in their roles. As a society, and particularly within the healthcare sector, we must ensure that these needs are met to uphold the dignity and sustainability of care work. By doing so, we not only support carers but also enhance the quality of care received by those who depend on them.
